On the Rocks tells the story of Laura (Rashida Jones), who suspects her husband Dean (Marlon Wayans) is having an affair, and asks for the help of her father, Felix (Bill Murray), to find out. Henwick plays Fiona, the character with which Dean might be having said affair. Although it’s not the biggest of roles, the actress imbues Fiona with a happy-go-lucky attitude, while also showing some of the insecurities her character is feeling, as she’s getting more responsibilities at work.

9 Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015)

Jessica Henwick's 10 Best Performances, Ranked (2)

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens tells the story of a new generation of heroes in the galaxy, especially Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac). Henwick plays a supporting role in the film as pilot Jessika Pava. Her character is one of the best pilots in the resistance and someone as determined as brave.

She was almost cast as Rey, as Henwick told The Hollywood Reporter: “I was auditioning for a different character, actually, so I spent six months auditioning for that character. And then, in the end, J.J. said, ‘I want you to be in the film, but I want to write a character for you.’ That’s how Jess Pava was created. But, after six months, you can’t help but just desperately want [the original role]. So, I was a mess at the end of those six months.”

Game of Thrones was one of the most successful TV series ever, until a not-so-good final season made everyone fall out of love with the whole show. Henwick had a small role as a member of House Martell, one of the most important houses in Westeros. She played Nymeria Sand, one of the daughters of Oberyn Martell (Pedro Pascal), and part of the Sand Snakes, a group of fierce women fighters. Her character, as all on the Dorne part of the show, got the short stick of the dramatic arc, as she only appeared in eight episodes, but at least she could show her fighting skills with a whip.

7 Glass Onion: A Knives Out Story (2022)

Jessica Henwick's 10 Best Performances, Ranked (4)

In Glass Onion: A Knives Out Story, Henwick plays Peg, Birdie’s (Kate Hudson) assistant, who also goes to the Glass Onion island for the weekend tech entrepreneur Miles Bron (Edward Norton) has prepared for his friends. Although her role is not the biggest, the actress gives her character a quirky demeanor, as someone who is always at the whims of her employer. Peg might be on the island so that we can see some of the events from the perspective of someone without all the power, and it works, as we feel for Henwick’s position, and we want her to succeed

The Matrix Resurrections is the latest entry in the saga, one that tackles toxic nostalgia and reboots greatly. Henwick plays Bugs, the character that plays the Morpheus role in this movie, as she’s the one that opens Mr. Anderson’s/Neo's mind about what is happening in the Matrix. Her character is blue-haired and both a skilled fighter and a hacker, making her the perfect ally to have in the movie. The role made Henwick one of the standouts of the film, as she was the one who looked like having the best time ever, while also having incredible fights. Love and Monsters tell the story of Joel (Dylan O’Brien), who, after the world gets inundated by radiation-altered monsters, lives in an underground bunker with some friends. When he discovers that his high-school sweetheart, Aimee (Henwick), is still alive, he embarks on a dangerous trip to find her. This film is a perfect Valentine's watch for sci-fi lovers, and has a surprisingly great role for Henwick. Although her character could’ve been the boring romantic interest, and that’s it, the actress's confidence and charisma and the script give her a much richer person to play. Aimee is sweet, brave, smart, and respected in her colony, and she wants to help and spend time with Joel, even though she has moved on, and is with someone else, creating someone who is much more rounded and unique than the romantic interests usually are on the genre.

In the animated series Blood of Zeus, Heron, son of Zeus and a demigod must fight an evil army, so he can avoid the world’s end. Henwick voices one of Heron's most trusted colleagues, Alexia. Even though she’s a normal human and no god or demigod, Alexia has been fighting the demonic army much longer than him, and she becomes a mentor figure to the lead. The actress is always awesome, even when she’s only using her voice, as the character is resolute, brave, and loyal, and the actress conveys all those attributes.

Henwick’s first acting (and leading) role was in BBC’s Spirit Warriors, a show about a group of teenagers who discover they’re descendants of Chinese warriors and must defend the world. The actress showed her dominion of martial arts, as she was the most awesome character in the whole series. But if that was all, it wouldn’t be on the list, Henwick also kicked butt, dramatically speaking, as she showed everything that happened to her character with her whole body, making this show the best school for her acting at that young age.

1 Iron Fist

Jessica Henwick's 10 Best Performances, Ranked (10)

Iron Fist was the show where many met Henwick and her acting and martial artist talents for the first time. In the Netflix TV series, she played Coleen Wing, a romantic interest and colleague of the Iron Fist, Danny Rand (Finn Jones). The actress' charisma and how she showed she was a powerful confident fighter, with many doubts about herself, made her the breakout character of the not so liked series. So much so, that by the end of the second and final season, her character had become the new Iron Fist. It made perfect sense that the show wasn’t renewed, but fans were left wondering what would’ve happened next, as Coleen (and Henwick) getting a much bigger role was an exciting idea.

Actor Finn Jones told Comic Book that he thinks her character should come back in the Shang-Chi sequel: "It would be nice to see Colleen come back and still have that Iron Fist as well," Jones said. "I think it would be cool if she showed up in Shang-Chi and still had the Iron Fist. There's so much possibility that you can do with this from where we left off for Season 2."
